About Alex
Alex has been riding for over 19 years. She began Huntseat riding lessons at age 7 and changed to Dressage lessons two years later. She got her first love, a palomino Paint pony named Sunny, at age 11. She was very involved with 4-H, competing at the New York State Fair many times. Alex and Sunny participated in Pony Club events and competed in open Huntseat, Western, and Dressage shows.
Alex got her second partner, a palomino Paint named Coqui, in November 2010. They competed in open and breed shows for a few years, and then realized Coqui's talent for Dressage. They then switched to pursuing only Dressage training. Alex and Coqui currently compete in USDF Region 2 Recognized Dressage competitions at Prix St. Georges (FEI Level). Alex and Coqui have trained with Diane Brandow in Erieville, NY, Jess Riley in Hudson, NY, and Dee Loveless in Ocala, FL. She got an additional Dresssage partner in November 2020 named Artie. He is a 2017 Canadian Warmblood coming up the levels. They currently work with Emily Brollier of Miramonte Equine in Lexington, KY.
During college, Alex also competed as a member of the Cazenovia College Equestrian Team in First Level Dressage. Alex's favorite horse to ride at Cazenovia was Chop Chop, a 15.2 hand Dutch Warmblood.
About Daffys Son Shine
Coqui's show name is Daffys Son Shine. He is registered with the American Paint Horse Association as a palomino overo. He is also registered with the Pinto Horse Association of America. He was born 04/29/2000 and is 15.0 hands. He was originally trained as a Western horse and had no Dressage training when Alex bought him.
Quick fact: The dark spot on Coqui's right neck is not dirt. It is known as a 'blood spot' and is a genetic mutation of the hair. Alex calls it his 'lucky spot.'
About Art Collector
Artie is a registered Canadian Warmblood by a Dutch Warmblood stallion, Mosaic Art, and out of a Percheron mare, Oreo. He was born 05/30/2017 and is over 17 hands! He has begun training for his dressage career with aspirations to become and FEI horse like his brother, Coqui.
About Rise-n-Shine
Although he is no longer with us, we can't forget to mention Sunny, the wonder pony who started it all! Sunny was truly one of the most special boys and he had quite the reputation (both good and naughty!)
